Wonder Grants are designed to help young activists with big ideas, but insufficient resources, launch or complete innovative projects across a range of fields including music, film, human rights, education science, environment and technology.

In the week of George Floyd’s murder, powerful young activists took over Shawn & The Foundation’s social media channels to share unfiltered takeovers from the frontline of Black Lives Matter protests around the country. During their takeovers, activists Zyahna Bryant, Jonathan Luis Hernandez, Brea Baker, and Winter Breanne shared information about their activism work, organizations to donate to and follow, and resources to learn more.

The Shawn Mendes Foundation made a major donation to the Australian Red Cross in response to the Australian Bush Fires.
The Foundation focuses on causes that Shawn and his fans deeply care about, with an overall goal of
supporting and amplifying the voices of youth changemakers.
The Foundation aims to provide information for Shawn’s fans to inspire them to seek out and create positive change in the world, and to provide resources that will
empower young changemakers to further their impact and grow as activists.
Shawn & Khalid release Youth video featuring incredible youth Aged 5 to 21, the video further highlights dozens of changemakers such as environmental activist Xiuhtezcatl Martinez, wrestling champion Hasaan Hawthorn, ballerina Lizzy Howell, basketball player Nassir Little, Shakespearean actors Gabriel Ratner and Charlotte Reidy, filmmaker Zuriel Oduwole, martial arts champions Rayna Vallandingham and Ethan Fineshriber, gun violence survivor D’Angelo McDade and rapper Sonita Alizadeh—among many others.
Shawn partnered with the Red Cross to raise funds and awareness for those affected by the catastrophic earthquake in Mexico. Shawn was in Mexico City during the earthquake while on the Illuminate tour. After witnessing the destruction firsthand, he decided to get involved. With the help of his fans, Shawn was able to raise over $180,000.
Pencils of Promise teamed up with Shawn launch the #BuildASchoolWithShawn campaign. Shawn and his fans exceeded the initial fundraising goal by 164%. Pencils of Promise was able to partner the community of Adaklu Seva to construct a new school and create a quality learning environment for hundreds of students.
Shawn worked with DoSomething.Org on a major national campaign to help spread positivity called #NotesFromShawn. 53,349 of Shawn’s fans sneakily plastered their communities with 257,033 uplifting messages for strangers. Research shows compliments like these boost self-esteem and decrease the risk of self-harm
